2010 Hibbing Disc Golf Club

A new year, a new board and a whole new beginning

Confusion seems to reign when people are asking about out-of-bounds boundaries. The Hibbing course is fairly unique in that we have concrete foundations that serve as out-of-bounds. At last evening's scramble, I suggested to an HDGA Board member to clearly define these boundaries by using painted lines. Currently, numerous foundations don't have clearly defined edges & corners. My idea is to paint the boundary lines directly onto the concrete, moving them inward to allow a clearly defined area. These newly-created boundaries would not have to be perfectly rectangular. For example, consider Hole #10, and the largest foundation. The southwest corner of this foundation contains an earthen ramp for service vehicles, and obscures the foundation line. We could simply paint the line on the concrete around that ramp, which would then allow a lie on that ramp to be in-bounds. The painted lines on the concrete could also be identified by painting the words "Out of Bounds" within the new boundary. If your disc is touching the line in any way, you're safe. If your disc is completely enclosed by the painted boundary, you're out. This idea solves the confusion problem, and is also not very expensive. Several cans of spray paint, and a few long, narrow stencils to make straight lines are all that's necessary. The lines could be as narrow as one inch, and would last a long time. Please see the attached aerial image that I created, providing the example stated.
